Every Full Moon brings something into view.

The Full Moon in Aquarius illuminates something different than the Cancer Moon before it. Where Cancer asks us to tend the hearth, Aquarius asks what we carry beyond its walls.

Aquarius has long been associated with the visionary, the reformer, and the one willing to imagine that life could be lived differently. It is an air sign, yet its symbol is the Water Bearer…a figure who pours life-giving water not to themselves, but into the world around them. There is wisdom in that image. Knowledge, compassion, and experience are not meant to be hoarded. They become meaningful only when shared.

This Moon often reveals the places where we have outgrown old identities. We may discover that a role we once wore comfortably has become too small, or that a belief inherited from others no longer reflects our own understanding. Such realizations can feel unsettling, yet they are rarely signs that we are lost. More often, they are evidence that we have continued to grow.

Unlike the deeply personal Cancer Moon, Aquarius lifts our gaze outward. It reminds us that every individual life is woven into something larger…a family, a community, a tradition, or a generation. The question is no longer simply Who am I? It becomes What do I offer because I am who I am?

The Lantern Moon asks us to notice the difference.

What parts of yourself have you hidden simply because they seemed inconvenient?

What opinions remain unspoken out of fear of being misunderstood?

What dreams have been waiting patiently beneath the weight of practicality?

The light of the Full Moon is impartial. It shines on beauty and imperfection alike. It asks neither for perfection nor for performance, only honesty.

The path ahead does not require you to become someone else.

It asks only that you stop pretending to be anyone other than yourself.

Lighting the Lantern

Choose a candle, lantern, or small oil lamp…something whose purpose is simply to give light.

Beside it, place a blank piece of paper and something with which to write.

Spend a few quiet moments reflecting on the past six months. Consider the places where your understanding has changed, where old assumptions have fallen away, or where you have found yourself becoming more fully yourself.

When you are ready, write down one identity, expectation, or fear that no longer fits the person you are becoming.

Read it quietly to yourself.

Then fold the paper away from you and set it beneath the lantern or candle.

Light the flame and sit with it for several minutes, allowing its steady glow to remind you that clarity rarely arrives all at once. It grows gradually, illuminating only the next few steps before asking us to trust the journey.

As the flame burns, say:

May I walk in truth without fear.
May I share what has been entrusted to me.
May my light be offered with humility and courage.

When you are finished, safely extinguish the flame.

Keep the folded paper until the next New Moon, allowing it to serve as a quiet reminder of what you have chosen to leave behind. When the next lunar cycle begins, return it to the fire or tear it into small pieces and release it to the wind or the earth, carrying your intention forward with the turning of the Moon.
